Petchmorakot Petchyindee Academy's 14-year streak without suffering a knockout loss came to an end on September 26. The Thai fighter was stopped in the first round by Dominican-Swiss Daniel Rodriguez, who also claimed the middleweight title at Rajadamnern Stadium.
The bout took place in Switzerland and marked a rematch between the two fighters. This time, however, the contest ended quickly. Rodriguez managed to finish the fight in the opening round, becoming the first opponent in 14 years to knock out Petchmorakot.
The last time the Thai suffered a knockout loss was in 2012 against Manasak Pinsinchai, when he was stopped in the third round. Since then, he had gone over a decade without facing defeat in this manner.
With this result, Rodriguez became only the second fighter to defeat Petchmorakot by knockout throughout his career. The victory was further significant as it occurred in the first round and resulted in the capture of the Rajadamnern middleweight title.
For Petchmorakot, the loss marks the end of a record built over 14 years. For Daniel Rodriguez, it represents one of the most notable achievements of his career, having knocked out an opponent who had not faced such a setback since 2012.
